Qualifying for the Canadian G.P. was:
dismal
stupid
suitable for a dirt track
pathetic
Once again, the track at the Canadian G.P. was shit. Not normal shit though, little balls of rubber shit.
If you look at the interviews after qualifying all the drivers mentioned how dismal the track was.
Good job Canada!!!
Hundreds of millions of people watched while the track fell to pieces.
The track is named after a great driver. To see if fall apart is embarrassing.

It’s a bit weird but Schuey is gonna be in charge of 60% of that $100 Million.
As Chairman of the Motor Sport Safety Development fund, it makes you wonder how Schuey would view something like this:

Australia is only 13 sleeps away.
Place your bets boys and girls ’cause it’s on!
Will Kimi win?
Will Hamilton show Kovalainen who’s in charge?
Will Kubica get everyone’s hopes up and then fail to deliver?
Will Bourdais and Vettel drive better than their car allows them to?
Will Super Aguri make the grid?
And, of course, will Alonso bring Renault back to the podium?
So many questions, so few races.

Earlier this year McLaren was found guilty of offending the FIA and was handed a huge $ 100,000,000.00 penalty and they were also excluded from the constructors championship.
Now Renault was found guilty but there is no penalty.
I will admit my cranium isn’t as big as those decision makers in the FIA but wtf???
How does one team’s supposed cheating warrant a huge fine and banishment to Spykerville and another team’s supposed cheating get no penalty at all?
For the interested, here’s the Renault decision:
11. Decision
11.1. For the foregoing reasons, the WMSC: [Not included in this post].
11.1.1. finds Renault in breach of Article 151(c) of the International Sporting Code,
11.1.2. imposes no penalty due to the lack of evidence that the Championship has been affected.

I don’t know about you, but I love searching the web for the great F1 drivers and their best drives.
I’m a bit obsessed with Senna in the rain right now. Happily, youtube has many of the best drivers and their best moments.
Senna, anytime it rained.
Gilles Villeneuve at the 1979 US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen.
Michael Schumacher anywhere. Except Spa in 1998. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzh2-lC9BUI
Stirling Moss at the 1955 Mille Miglia.
I’ve probably missed a bunch of them. So I ask you, what were the best drives ever?

Lewis Hamilton can get his 10th straight podium this weekend.
Here’s the question. Will he do it?
My guess: Yes.
It may rain and I haven’t watched Lewis in the rain, still - I think/hope he can do it.
Remember in 2002, Schuey nailed the podium in all 17 races.

Whew. Nigel Stepney gets fired from Ferrari and a senior member of the McLaren tech staff has been suspended. There is dark talk of white powder in Ferrari fuel tanks.
What does one make of this?
A coincidence?
A conspiracy?
A clusterf#@k?

The F1 circus will go to the U.S. this weekend. The question’s are:
Will Hamilton contnue the podium streak?
Will Vettel get points?
If Vettel is in the points, will he beat Heidfeld?
Will Scott Speed finish higher than 12th?
Will Ralf Schumacher, kidding - nevermind.

Gilles Villeneuve died 25 years ago and we saw all kinds of retrospective coverage. Not very illuminating, but nostalgically, it was nice. That said, I’ve seen video of Gilles on youtube that I’ve never read about or saw on TV.
Raikkonen:
Massa has beaten him again. It’s only practice but a pattern is emerging.
I bet money before the season started that Raikkonen would win the WDC. I was prepared for Alonso and maybe Hamilton to beat him but not Massa. I simply didn’t give Massa the credit that he clearly deserved.
That’s not to say I underestimated Massa, I think I might have overestimated Raikkonen. [It hurts me to type that].

In both qualifying sessions this year Honda has been outqualified by a Super Aguri.
Isn’t this a bit like George W. Bush outplaying Gary Kasparov in a chess tournament?
What is Honda playing at?

For your consideration: I submit, Lewis Hamilton.
Several media outlets have gone positively squishy when discussing Mr. Hamilton’s F1 debut.
He was great in the Australian G.P., and that should be it. He shouldn’t be trivialized as the flavour of the month, or heaven help us, the year.
Media hype can kill open wheel racing careers before of “minority” drivers.
Anyone remember Sarah Fischer? Madly overhyped with little ability.
How about Fox du jour, Danica Patrick. Nice to look at but she’s in the IRL because she’s nice to look at. In the lower formulae she was quite good. She could win almost every race. Now, we are treated to this:
Announcer: …and Danica Patrick has moved up to 4th. Can she win the race!!!
Everyone else: No, she has to pit.
Announcer: …Danica slots into 14th after her pitstop. She drove an amazing race today.
Colour Man: …That’s right Chip, Danica almost won this race. I’ve never seen such ability from a young rookie.
All I ask is of the F1 fraternity is this, let Lewis Hamilton do his thing without the hype. I hope he will set records and amaze us for years. The thing is, Breathless media attention can kill. Just ask Jan Magnussen.

14 days from now we will have an idea of who is who and what is what.Â
Today, though I’m interested in your opinion:
Heikki Kovalainen or Lewis Hamilton.
Â
Which driver will have more points at the end the season?
Â
My vote:
Heikki Kovalainen.

 Yours?

Regardless of who or what you believe in, Merry Christmas everyone.
Or, if you wish, Happy Hanukkah, Ramadan, Tet, Kwanzaa, Shichi-Go-San, Guy Fawkes Day, Saint Lucia day and Guadalupe day.
For those of you who don’t believe, have a fantabulous day off.

Is anyone planning to watch the Race of Champions this year?
Â
I saw it in 2004 when Heikki Kovalainen won. I was really impressed with him. I hope he can deliver at Renault in 2007.
I like the format, same cars, same track and drivers just trying to beat each other. Hopefully Kubica or some other young driver will show their stuff.
Â
I don’t know if you guys know a lot about Sebastian Bourdais or not, but he’s brilliant. A French driver of his calibre should really be in F1. Bourdais was there in 2004 and 2005 but he didn’t make to the final round.
