John Edwards to Champcar Atlantic
John Edwards, probably the most successful racer amongst our forum members (other than those delusional types who believe GPL is “harder than the real thing”) is promoted to a step just below the big time next year when he will be racing in Formula Atlantic. The Linksheaven corporation yacht in Monaco (paid for by selling forum member email addresses to spammers) will be glad to welcome John on board when he makes it into F1.
His dad let us know in the forum:
John Edwards, the 15 year old racing driver and 2004 winner of the Red Bull Driver Search, has extended his contract with Red Bull and signed with Forsythe Racing to drive in the Champ Car Atlantic Championship in 2007. Just as in 2006, the 2007 Atlantic series champion will earn a bonus of $2 million to be used toward competing in the Champ Car World Series in 2008. The Atlantic series features the Swift 016.a Atlantic car powered by a 300-horsepower Mazda-Cosworth racing engine. The series attracts talented participants from across the globe and has emerged as one of the final steps of the ladder to the highest levels of motorsports competition. The 34th season in 2007 once again promises to showcase the emerging racing stars of the future. The championship has a long and successful history of graduating champions including Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve, as well as the 2004 Champ Car Rookie of the Year and 2003 Atlantic champion, A.J. Allmendinger. Edwards is looking forward to following in the footsteps of these previous champions.
