Donington Renault meet
September 11th, 2006
A couple of us from Linksheaven visited Donington this weekend for the Renault meet. A great weekend all round - great track, some excellent racing and we said hello to JME. The biggest disappointment was our hire car wallowed around like a boat on heavy seas and gave truly horrendous performances on the trac..err road.

Not many tracks have a Spitfire on a pedestal (or is it a Hurricane?).

The Meganes offered some of the best racing of the weekend (and a great sound!)
I’m a plane buff, so Donington being on the flightpath to East Midlands airport proved interesting. In particular, this Russian monster flew over.
It proved distracting for most of the crowd
The Donington collection of F1 cars is insane. There is room upon room of F1 cars from all eras. There was almost too many - “oh it’s just another Senna McLaren”.
The collection includes the most beautiful F1 car ever - the Gary Anderson Jordan 191

By the way, Van der Drift was superb in both races. He won both on the track, had the first race stripped from him for some infringement.

I see someone had time to visit the Donington museum.
Quite an impressive collection of cars eh?
Anyone going to this track should take time out of their trip to view the cars. It’s very easy to go watch a race at Donington and never know what history lurks inside the building.

Yeah i went to the Renault World Series at Donnington this year too with a few guys from work was really entertaining. Particularly enjoyed seeing the F1 car.
