Wo ist der German Grand Prix in 2007?
I apologise to our German readers, I realise I don’t speak German
F1Central make an interesting point following the publication of the unofficial 2007 F1 calendar. The European Grand Prix appears to have been dropped, and most people assumed that this meant that Nurburgring would not be hosting an event in 2007.
”We are assuming that a grand prix at the Nurburgring will take place in 2007,” Nurburgring’s managing director Walter Kafitz was quoted as saying by ’sid’, while it is still speculated that the two German circuits could ‘alternate’ the single race beginning in 2008.
That is a confident statement. What is particularly interesting is the lack of confidence in the Hockenheim response “there has been no decision”.
Personally I think the change of layout of Hockenheim has lost its personality. It used to be an extraordinary race with massively long straights which required ultra low downforce, followed by the tight and twisty stadium section. The drivers and teams were forced to compromise on at least half the track, and it was always fascinating to identify who had made what decisions. Following its makeover it has in many ways become “just another” track.
