IRL Driver Paul Dana dies in Miami crash

Team Rahal driver Paul Data died today following a two car crash during practice for the IRL’s Toyota Indy 300. Ed Carpenter, the other driver involved, was reported awake and alert in a Miami hospital.
The incident started with Ed Carpenter spinning and striking the wall. As his car was sliding to a stop, it was struck at almost full speed by Dana.
Rahal’s other entries, Danica Patrick and Buddy Rice, were pulled from the race and the race will prceed.
Paul Dana was 30. He is survived by his wife Tonya. More details may be found here

I would also like to remember, sadly, another news concerning motorsport.
Sadly, last friday morning, while running the second stage in my home rally (Rally Catalunya), Jorg Bastuck died while trying to change a wheel in his accidented Citroen. Another car went off at the same place fatally stricking him.
He was lifted to a hospital, but died an hour later.
No celebrations in this popular race.
I saw Dana’s accident. Apalling.
It puts me really down to hear these news when I consider this sport, just that, sport.
