Reports in the Spansh press link McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya to the Renault seat being vacated by McLaren bound Fernando Alonso.
The spanish newspaper ‘Marca. reports that Montoya’s manager, Julian Jacobi, has held meetings with the ream regarding a seat for next year but has not yet met with team principal Flavio Briatore. Jacobi, of the of the CSS Stellar management company, has represented many of F1’s leading drivers most notably the late Ayrton Senna.
It is believed that Montoya, 30, is looking for a seat for 2007 following McLarens refusal to pick up a 2007 option on Montoya’s services. Fernando Alonso, the driver that Montoya would be replacing at Renault, has already announced a move to McLaren for 2007.
Spanish-speaking ‘JPM’ would also fit in well with Renault’s existing sponsors, such as major Spanish backer Telefonica.
It is also thought that Renault sponsor Telefonica is keen to see Montoya in the car as a replacement for Alonso, who will be sponsored by Telefonica rival Voadfone.
Montoya has gone on the record saying he won’t wait around at McLaren if the team doesn’t show it wants him to stay

If ING Renault Team is inteligent, they must contact Montoya for 2007 rest of season and prepare for 2008 for another championship winning. Mr, Flavio briatore, pls open your eyes , be smart.
